I enjoyed this article because I think it is fascinating to consider the philosophy of mediation, and I have invited Philosophy Professors to teach on the MSc in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Studies we run at Birkbeck, University of London. As Mr. Diaz suggests, philosophy influences the way we think and comparing and contrasting judicial powers of decision making with the parties primacy in solving personal conflicts in mediation gives us another lens into how different forms of dispute resolution reflect and mirror values and beliefs. How refreshing to read something which invites us to think philosophically and not just pragmatically about mediation.
