I can't agree more with the survey you mention in your article. Other surveys have shown that clients prefer mediators who roll up their sleeves and say it like it really is. For this reason knowledge and experience of the arena in which the dispute arose, is important It forms part of the value proposition of mediation It may even be misleading to suggest otherwise. Over-selling the potential of mediation is paradoxically not advancing the interests of the profession.
