Conflict Practica Openings
During the spring semester of 2004, two Conflict Practica positions will be open to students seeking the graduate certificate in conflict mediation. Because of changes in procedures within the Residence Life office at ACU, an increase in student mediation cases handled by the Alternatives in Mediation program (formerly known as Campus Reconciliation Services) is expected. In order to offer some consistency in services, two AIM mediators will be selected. These individuals will mediate or co-mediate cases on a weekly basis throughout the semester. Their efforts will be coordinated through the AIM administrator and Center for Conflict Resolution staff. The Center is now accepting applications for persons interested in using this opportunity to gain elective credit in the certificate program. In order to be eligible for consideration, students must have satisfactorily completed the course in Mediation, completed an application, including the provision of a short essay. Candidates will be carefully considered and before being allowed to enroll in the Practicum. Expectations for receiving a satisfactory grade in this conflict practicum include:
PLEASE NOTE: This is a new opportunity. The actual case load may vary. If the number of cases is too small to meet the expectations set forth above, other duties may be substituted. Students should expect to invest a minimum of 100 hours into the Practicum. Applications for these positions may be obtained from the Center for Conflict Resolution (Mabee Business Building, Room 260) or you may download the application in Adobe Reader format (.pdf).
