Strader and Wenetschlaeger Judge Arbitration Competition

Dr. Robert J. “Jerry” Strader and Dr. Patty Wenetschlaeger served as judges for the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division’s Arbitration Competition on November 21-22, 2009.  Regional Competitions were held at six law school campuses around the country including Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth, TX where Drs. Strader and Weneschlaeger were judges. Teams consisted of four JD candidates with two students role playing as lawyers and two students as witnesses.  In the preliminary rounds, each team arbitrated twice - once as the claimant and once as the respondent.  Eight teams advanced to the semifinal round and four teams advanced to the final round where one team was named Regional Champion.  All six Regional Champions will compete in the National Finals on January 22-23, 2010 at Chapman University School of Law in Orange, CA. 

Dr. Strader is the Duncum Center’s mediator/arbitrator in residence.  He is also an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINA), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and BBB Auto Line.  Dr. Wenetschlaeger is an adjunct faculty member for the Department of Conflict Resolution.  She is a practicing family law attorney, mediator, and an arbitrator for the BBB and BBB Auto Line.
