An Outside Resource for Churches in Conflict

Opportunities exist in an escalating conflict to bring in outside assistance to help resolve the conflict and to provide reconciliation.  Unity, peace, and purpose can be restored.  Proving training in conflict management can help avoid or minimize the conflict before a crisis develops. Yet, church leaders seem reluctant or strongly opposed to call for "outside" help.  Why?

The Center for Conflict Resolution is often called upon to provide intervention and training services to business, churches, and nonprofit agencies.  To better serve these institutions, the Center is launching the Positive Solutions Institute.

  • October 13: Negotiation and Mediation course begins. Garry P. Bailey teaches a comprehensive study of the conceptual and interpersonal skills required to engage in effective negotiation and to serve as a mediator. Emphasis on development of interest-based negotiation and mediation skills with strategies assisting parties in the creation of opportunities for agreement. Online.

  • Oct. 20: Conflict in Schools course begins. Robert Otey provides students with opportunities to develop skills in identifying the signs and root causes of friction, anger, violence and conflict in the education environment. Online.

  • Oct. 20: Organizational Behavior course begins. Presents individual, group, and organizational variables that inhibit or facilitate effective organizational functioning.
