First Class Graduates with M.A. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation

On Aug. 8, Downing Bolls, Betsy Freeman, Kelliann Hale, Roy Jones, and Brian Ziemer became the first five graduates of Abilene Christian University’s Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation program.  “After two years of course work, practicum projects, and a residency session, these students are equipped to apply their skills in their respective fields,” said Dr. Garry P. Bailey, Associate Professor in ACU’s Department of Conflict Resolution.  “We expect great things from these graduates.  They are all passionate about being peacemakers.”

A KRBC news anchor in Abilene, TX, Bolls plans to use his skills in his broadcasting career.  An experienced educator, Freeman accepted a new job upon graduation as a high school conflict resolution counselor, a role specifically created for her at a high school in Snyder, Texas. Jones is a minister and police chaplain in Odessa, TX and finds his conflict resolution expertise beneficial in both roles.  Hale, a veteran of short term missions and inner city ministries, is currently using her conflict resolution skills in her work at Come Before Winter, an organization that seeks to renew, equip, honor, and unite women missionaries around the world.  Lastly, Ziemer, a practicing CPA and high school Bible teacher in Houston, TX, plans to continue seeking formal education in conflict resolution.
