Department of Conflict Resolution Hosts 2nd Residency Session
Activities included negotiation and mediation role plays as well as special topic lectures. While education students spend the final two days with Dr. Bob and Laura Otey focusing on how to integrate conflict resolution in the classroom, conflict resolution students concentrate on managing conflict in the workplace and in families. “The goal of Residency Session is to provide students the opportunity to practice the skills they’ve studied in their online courses. We want them to leave Residency Session with confidence in their ability to negotiate and mediate effectively in a variety of settings,” said Dr. Matthew Dodd, Assistant Professor of the Department of Conflict Resolution. “Of course, the best part is visiting students in-person and watching them enjoy spending time together face-to-face. I’m always amazed at how well they know each other from their online courses even though most have never met in-person.” The next residency session will be held January 5 – 9, 2009 in Abilene, Texas.
