BASICS OF MEDIATION - June 4-6 & 11-13

Community Boards, a leader in community mediation since 1976, designed its BASICS OF MEDIATION for interested individuals and working professionals with little or no background in mediation and facilitation. Yet even seasoned mediators can learn new skills and strategies in Community Boards’ restorative justice model.

BASICS introduces and reinforces those core skills critical for effective mediation: communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation. Participants receive training manuals and supplemental handouts, attend lectures and presentations and participate in extensive, small group role-play practices. Participants receive a certificate of completion.

People have chosen BASICS because it is:
Affordable: Comparable 40-hour trainings in the Bay Area cost $950-1250.
Practical: Community Boards provides an ongoing practicum for graduates to develop and refine their own dispute resolution styles.
Diversity Focused: Emphasis is on addressing intercultural and diversity issues: race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation and class.

25 CLE credits & 35 MFCC Continuing Education credit hours awarded

Full and partial scholarships available.

BASICS will also be offered in June 2010. For more information: Visit www.communityboards.org

Cedar Rapids MI
ACR Approved 40 Hour Divorce & Family Mediation Training
For a 40 hour mediation training to be effective it needs to be energizing and even fun. Though the work is about serious stuff, learning about it over 40 intense hours has to include different approaches and an accommodation of personal learning preferences. That’s why we incorporate a variety of approaches from advanced electronics to personal interaction. And, all this has to be done in a comfortable and pleasing place where folks enjoy spending lots of time together. Steve is a Certified Transformative Mediator and trains in a way that helps transform conflict from a negative and destructive force to a positive and constructive part of the dynamic of human interaction.
