Mediate.com Enters Eighth Year

Randy Lowry, Director of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, and Jamie Moffitt have now joined the Mediate.com Board of Directors (along with Jim Melamed, John Helie and Carol Knapp). Mediate.com is also served by an outstanding Advisory Board.
Mediate.com has continued to steadily grow with 2,253,881 documents viewed in 2002. Our average visitor spends nearly 12 minutes at the Mediate.com site. Approximately 46,000 Mediate.com articles were printed in 2002.
We continue to add new features, highlighted this year by our Dynamic Web Site Package and MediatorDirect Program.

Our MediatorDirect Program provided over 19,000 click-throughs to listed mediator web sites during the fourth quarter of 2002! These listings allow you to be displayed at the top of every page of Mediate.com for all visitors from your selected area code(s).

Biography
As one of the founding directors of the Mediation Information and Resource Center, John Helie continues his commitment to dispute resolution and the Internet. John founded ConflictNet in 1989, as a communication, forum and information sharing network for the Conflict Resolution Practitioners community. A trained mediator and facilitator, John has pioneered work being done with online conflict and communication. His interest in conflict resolution and the Internet led to his involvement with RuleNet, an Internet/Web based Regulatory Negotiation Process sponsored by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He designed software tools for building and evaluating consensus within the RuleNet project and was the first facilitator to use this technology. |
James Melamed
Jim Melamed co-founded Resourceful Internet Solutions (RIS) and Mediate.com in 1996. Before this, Jim founded The Mediation Center in Eugene, Oregon in 1983 and served as Executive Director of the national Academy of Family Mediators from 1987 to 1993. Jim is past-Chair of the Oregon Dispute Resolution Commission and a member of the Oregon State Bar. Jim teaches Mediation at the Pepperdine University School of Law's Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. Jim was the first President and Executive Director of the Oregon Mediation Association (1985) and received the OMA's 2003 Award for Excellence. Jim Received the Oregon State Bar Dispute Resolution Section's 2006 Sidney Lezak Award of Excellence and the 2007 John Haynes Distinguished Mediator Award from the Association for Conflict Resolution. Jim's undergraduate degree is in in psychology, with honors, from Stanford University and his law degree is from the University of Oregon. |
