ABSTRACT: Skilled neutrals have a distinct and valuable role to play at the Collaborative table, particularly in complex or high-conflict cases. While Collaborative practitioners do at times call on neutrals to work with them on specific issues or to assist when the process has reached an impasse, integrating skilled mediators more routinely into the Collaborative process and acknowledging the distinctive benefits of working with a mediator can support the evolution of Collaborative Practice toward an increasingly effective, conscious and client-centered practice.
