June 5, Friday @Bowen Law School: Learn and Lunch!
The conference was great! We had about 30 people attend and everyone seemed to enjoy the topics. We had several speakers and there were enough topics to please everyone.
Jack Bell did an excellent job discussing preparing your client for mediation. He spoke from two points of view: the mediator's and the attorney's.
Kelly Olson did an excellent piece on agreement writing. That's an area everyone needs a gentle nudge on!
Scotty Shively discussed arbitration and had lots of interesting facts and cases.
Jennifer Jones Taylor spoke about ADR in Arkansas and including a little on certification issues.
Fran Scroggins talked about different types of mediation and focused on Elder Mediation. Very interesting!
I talked about practical tips to help out in family/divorce mediation.
I enjoyed meeting new mediators and reconnecting with the "old" ones!
If you didn't come, you missed a treat! (And 3.5 hours of CME!!)
Take care! Donna Clawson

Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference May 9, 2008 - Little Rock Peabody Hotel
Sponsored by Arkansas Conflict Resolution Association, Arkansas Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission, and the Arkansas Bar Association - Alternative Dispute Resolution Law Section
Who could believe we would be snowed out on March 7! As you know, the conference was rescheduled for May 9, 2008. The program open and closed with joint sessions and included overlapping Mediator and Attorney tracks throughout the day. We had great attendance and wonderful speakers! Everyone enjoyed networking not only with mediators but also judges and attorneys.
The handouts were excellent. If you haven't had a chance to look through them, they contain some great ideas for forms.
