“You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”  Mark Twain

This highly interactive program presents methods for developing the key skills necessary for resolving conflict and breaking through impasse. Through the use of games used to train professional improvisers, you will jump into a world where playfulness and acceptance rule. These training techniques have been successfully presented to over 3000 people -- many of them attorneys and doctors who have not played in years.

For those taking notes, the featured components of this training include:

  • Learning to be present in the moment
  • Practicing listening with an open mind
  • Developing your ability to be open and non-judgmental
  • Enhancing your creativity within the limits you are given
  • Embracing impasse through the principle of heighten and explore
  • Techniques for making the other person look good
  • Methods for establishing trust and creating a safe space to take risks

Debra Gerardi, RN, MPH, JD, Improv Comedian is a mediator and principal with Health Care Mediations.  She has trained thousands of people eager to learn how to think like an improviser.  Debra has performed improvisational comedy at the Upfront Comedy Club, The Comedy Store, and the Empty Stage Theater in Los Angeles and the Bayfront Theater in San Francisco.
