Exploring the Enneagram:

Seeing into the Heart of Conflict

Saturday, May 3, 2008  v  9:00* – 5:00 p.m.

Gould Center, Stanford Law School

*
Registration starts at 8:30; the program begins at 9:00. Directions will be sent upon registration.

This day-long seminar will instruct participants in using the Enneagram system to
work more effectively with specific personality types. Participants will learn about the
nine unique personality types and develop a deeper understanding of how individuals
of each type differ in their responses to conflict. This knowledge can aid mediators
and others working with people in conflict to successfully guide the process of
dispute resolution. The seminar will also teach participants interventions to help
parties in conflict relax defensive stances.
Program Presenter: Susie Herrick, MA, LMFT

Susie Herrick is a licensed psychotherapist with a Masters degree in
Counseling Psychology. She is a professional mediator and a trainer of
mediators for the County of Santa Clara Dispute Resolution program. Ms.
Herrick is also an adjunct professor at the University of Santa Clara and a
mediation trainer at Stanford University. She is a certified teacher of the
Enneagram via Helen Palmer’s Trifold School of Enneagram Studies.

The Enneagram is an ancient and widely used system of mapping perception and
behavior. It characterizes people into nine unique personality types. Developing the
skills to recognize and constructively interact with the different lenses through which
people perceive their reality gives us the opportunity to discover the core of what lies
underneath their disputes, and helps us to better guide the process of conflict
resolution. Understanding the unique reactions to conflict via the Enneagram also
facilitates empathy, which helps to build more effective communication skills when
dealing with each personality type.
