Presenters:
Pamela Martin is a Private Organizational Ombuds Service offering the unique cross-over skills of an Investigator, Human Resource Specialist and Mediator. After graduating from San Francisco State University in California, Ms. Martin spent five years with the Department of Defense, stationed in Germany. Upon her return to the US, she worked in non-profit fundraising as well as retail sales management. Ms. Martin has more than twenty years experience as a Pre-Trial investigator for San Mateo County, California. Additionally, Ms. Martin has worked in all aspects of Human Resources for fourteen years. She is nationally certified as a Professional in Human Resources since 1996. For the last three years, Ms. Martin has participated as a volunteer mediator for the Small Claims Court in San Mateo County and the Office of Civilian Complaints in San Francisco. She also serves as a coach for mediation trainings.
Peter Brabbee, principal, has been involved with alternative dispute resolution since the mid-seventies. After attending the Institute of International Law in Washington, DC, he apprenticed in mediation with Nate Feinsinger, founding member of the National Labor Relations Board. In 1975, he spent two years in coursework at the University of Wisconsin Law School and then case work with Feinsinger and staff mediators of the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission. In the eighties, he worked with the Unified Court System State of New York in Manhattan as a mediator/arbitrator. This was followed by engagements as a mediator, arbitrator and trainer with the American Arbitration Association, the National Association of Securities dealers and other dispute resolution providers. After moving to California, he started a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to dispute prevention in digital media development. This led to California certification as a Long Term Care public service Ombudsman. He completed additional training and three certifications offered by the International Ombudsman Association ( IOA), an association of corporate and university ombuds. He is a member of the United States Ombudsman Association (for public service) and the International Ombudsman Association.
