Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California

Invitation to Apply For Membership on
Board Of Directors

Applications Due Friday, October 23, 2009

The Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California (ADRNC) is the foremost organization of professional and volunteer mediators and conflict resolution specialists in northern California. Established in response to the rapidly growing interest in non-adversarial methods of dispute resolution, ADRNC provides educational programs and networking opportunities in mediation and other conflict resolution practices. ADRNC is a chapter of the Washington, D.C.–based Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) and an organizational sponsor of the California Dispute Resolution Council.

We are currently seeking applicants to join the Board of Directors. Individuals with an interest in contributing to the work of the ADRNC but who do not seek board membership may alternatively apply to join one of ADRNC’s seven standing committees: Annual Conference, Programs, Communications, Public Relations, Membership, Diversity & Equity, and Finance.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors conducts monthly meetings at a date and time convenient for current board members (currently the second Monday of the month). The board also convenes for a one-day retreat annually. Participation in most (for example, 10 out of 12) board meetings is expected.

Board members serve two-year terms. Active and regular participation is expected from its members. In addition to board meeting attendance, each board member is expected to participate in the work of at least one of the standing committees, contributing an average of at least 2–3 hours of time per week to committee activities between regular board meetings.
