The Workplace Section recently announced in the election’s results the decision to create a Chair-Elect position within the Leadership Council. This new position supports a smoother transition with incoming and outgoing leaders, builds a continuous and sustainable leadership team and capitalizes on the energy of volunteer leaders willing to step up to the plate. Currently, we have one nominee, Vicky Knudsen, for the position of Chair-Elect for 2006-2007. The Section supports a Tri-Chair model. From this point forward, the Section will hold annual elections for one or two Chair-Elects in order to create a seamless transition from year to year.

NOMINATIONS REOPENED FOR ONE CHAIR-ELECT POSITION FOR 2006-2007 ACR Workplace Section
The Workplace Section is reopening the nominations process for the position of Chair-Elect. The Chair-Elect will have an opportunity to work with the Section’s Leadership Council and current Workplace Section Chairs in preparation for their eventual role as a Section Chair. The Chair-Elect will hold the title for one year, 2006-2007 and then, automatically step into one of the Section Chair positions joining the other Chairs serving a two-year term from 2007-2009.
We encourage you to review the Section Chair’s position description posted on the Workplace Section website at www.mediate.com/acrworkplace and to nominate yourself or anyone in the Workplace Section whom you believe to be a qualified candidate. Nominees must be willing to serve if elected and must be members in good standing with ACR and the Workplace Section.
Nomination Procedures
1. Nominations along with the nominee’ s completed candidate application may be submitted in writing to Pattie Porter, Section Nominations Committee, any time after receipt of this notice until October 31, 2006. However, it is advisable that nominations be submitted well in advance of the deadline since nominees who are not self-nominated must provide written notice to the Nominations Committee of their acceptance of the nomination not later than the October 31, 2006 deadline.
2. Nominations and notices from nominees should include “ Workplace Section Elections” in the subject line and be sent to:

3. Nominations should clearly reflect the name, office phone number and e-mail address of the nominator and the name, office phone number and e-mail address of each nominee.
Voting Procedure and Elections
On November 1, if no additional nominations are submitted for a contested election, then Vicki Knudsen will be endorsed as the Chair Elect for 2006-2007.
On November 1, a slate of nominees will be posted on the ACR website and online voting begins. An email with instruction will be sent to all Workplace Section members.
On, November 15, the elections will be closed. Section members will be informed via e-mail and the Section’s web site.

As you know, ACR annual elections are upon us. To date, the Workplace Section has received two nominations for the two vacant Tri-Chair positions for the 2006-2008 terms. The two nominees are:
1) Dina Beach Lynch from Boston, MA
2) Michael McDowell from Pittsburgh, PA
In addition to these two nominations, we received one nomination, Vicki Knudsen from Billings, MT, interested in serving the next term for 2007-2009. With this development, the Workplace Leadership Council proposes that Vicki serve in the role of Tri-chair "Elect"preparing her to fill the role currently held by Debra Dupree.
