Workplace Section Leadership Council



Section’s Advisory Board
The advisory board is an honorary place for past Section Chairs. After they finish their two year term as Section Chair, they automatically become an advisory board member. Their role is to consult and advise the current Section Chairs. They also serve as an historical memory of past Section events and policy issues.

Section Chairs
The section uses a tri-chair model with rotating two-year terms. The chairs are responsible for the overall leadership and guidance of the Section with a commitment to create and meet the mission, goals and objectives for the Section. The chairs work very closely with the Core Committee Chairs to carry out the objectives. They also consult with the Section’s Advisory Board on policy issues and the Section’s future direction.

Section Chair-Elect
The section recently launched a chair-elect position to enhance the leadership transition from year-to-year and to build continuity within the organization and support for the tri-chair model. The chair-elect works very closely with the tri-chairs to assist in carrying out the objectives of the section while grooming for the leadership role.

Secretary
This position provides a key communications role for the Section and works closely with the Communications Core Committee Chair. The secretary coordinates and facilitates the quarterly Leadership Council tele-meetings including drafting and distributing meeting agenda and minutes. This position also serves as a repository of section information, and a contact person for initial requests of information about the Section.

Core Committees



Professional Development Committee
This committee is responsible for the career and practice development needs of Section members to include a) Training and vendor repository; b) Conference Planning; c) Teleconference calls on special topics, and d) Advanced Practitioners community.

Communications Committee
This committee is responsible for the overall communication between ACR staff and Section membership to include a) Section’s Website; b) Workplace Newsletter; c) Workplace Alerts, and d) Workplace training announcements

Section Membership
This committee serves to a) create and implement a membership strategy to recruit and retain Section members including APs, b) serves as a liaison for Diversity & Equity Network, and c) develop volunteer incentives, recognition and awards.

Section Planning & Operations
This committee focuses on the vision and mission of the WPS through evaluating long-term goals and strategies, developing and managing the Section budget, developing WPS policies and serving as a liaison to ACR’s Legislative & Public Policy Committee, and overseeing the annual Section Co-Chair nominations.

Workplace Specializations
This committee provides guidance and coordination as it pertains to substantive areas to include the a) Federal workplace ADR; b) Labor Arbitration and Mediation; c) Employment Arbitration and Mediation, and d) other conflict management practices including conflict coaching, facilitation, ombuds, etc
