UPCOMING CONFLICT COACHING TELESEMINAR CONFLICT COACHING IN HEALTH CARE Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 5:00 – 6:00 pm Eastern. Please join the ACR Workplace Section’s Conflict Coaching Committee for their next 60 minute teleseminar on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 5:00 – 6:00 pm Eastern. T Effective conflict management is literally vital to the work of health care professionals. Conflict coaching can be a powerful new addition to the conflict management mix, especially as it is carefully integrated. This teleconference will briefly overview the authors’ model of conflict coaching, explain how it was introduced in a hospital nursing environment, and broadly explore additional opportunities for conflict coaching in health care. The teleconference will include academic justifications for the expansion of conflict coaching in health care along with specific suggestions for practitioners. Ross Brinkert, Ph.D. is assistant professor of Corporate Communication at Penn State Abington and partner in Conflict Coaching Matters. Ross is co-author of the book Conflict Coaching: Conflict Management Strategies and Skills for the Individual. He has related articles published in Conflict Resolution Quarterly, International Journal of Public Participation, and Journal of Nursing Management (forthcoming). Ross regularly presents at conferences and in various organizational settings. Tricia S. Jones, Ph. D. is professor of Psychological Studies in Education at Temple University and partner in Conflict Coaching Matters. She has authored five books, including Conflict Coaching: Conflict Management Strategy and Skills for the Individual, and written many articles on conflict management. She has spoken extensively at national and international conferences. Tricia served as editor-in-chief for Conflict Resolution Quarterly (2001-2007) and she received the Jeffrey Z. Rubin Theory-to-Practice Award from the International Association for Conflict Management (2004). UPCOMING WORKPLACE SECTION TELESEMINAR Developing Conflict Competence Presented by Tim Flanagan and Craig Runde March 26, 2010 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm (Eastern) 9:00 – 10:00 am (Pacific) Conflict Competence is the ability to develop and use cognitive, emotional, and behavioral skills that enhance productive outcomes of conflict while reducing the likelihood of escalation or harm. It also involves developing conflict norms for teams and improving conflict cultures and systems in organizations.
