Power: From a Transformative Perspective?
By Sue Bronson
Presentation
Power can be difficult to detect and more difficult to address. This teleseminar will look at recognizing lack of power and empowerment in the context of family mediation. When do differences in the power relation cause concern for the mediator, if at all? If you choose to intervene, when and how might you insert into the conversation? We will discuss what patterns of interaction to watch for and how to intervene respectful of individual decision-making.
Presenter
Sue Bronson M.S. is a mediator, trainer, and psychotherapist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with twenty-five years experience helping people engage in quality conversations and finding resolution. Sue teaches mediation and facilitation skills at several Universities and is the lead author of Self-Assessment Tool for Mediators, which is now translated into Dutch, French, and Spanish. She is the Past Chair of the Association for Conflict Resolution Family Section, an AFM board member, and a charter member of the Wisconsin Association of Mediators. When not active with mediation, Sue remains energetic with her border collie in dog obedience and agility.
