Clifford Dorne is Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Behavioral Sciences and Professor of Criminal Justice at Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan. The College houses 13 academic departments and two graduate programs, a museum, and an art gallery.  Dr. Dorne serves as Chair of the SVSU campus General Education Committee and was previously Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice. Currently, he is involved with victim-offender and school truancy mediation programs and serves on the Saginaw County Juvenile Justice Core Collaborative, an advisory committee to the Michigan 10th Judicial District-Family Court.

 

He has been teaching juvenile justice, corrections, criminology, conflict management, human relations in criminal justice, and the history of organized crime, among other courses, for 22 years. Dr. Dorne received his Ph.D. from the School of Criminal Justice at the University at Albany, State University of New York and previously held faculty positions at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Texas A&M International University at Laredo. His book, Child Maltreatment in the United States: History, Public Policy and Research was published in its Third Edition by Criminal Justice Press and he is working on a textbook on restorative justice for Prentice-Hall.

Cheryl Swanson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at the University of West Florida.  She received her B.A. in political science from Know College and her PhD in political science from the University of Oklahoma.  She received basic training in mediation and attended workshops on Restorative Justice at the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies at Fresno Pacific University.  She teaches courses on restorative justice at the undergraduate and graduate levels and formerly served as ombudsman at the University.  She co-chairs the Restorative and Criminal Justice Section of the Association of Conflict Resolution and has published a number of articles in the area of corrections.
