 Timely News Briefs

NEW CO-CHAIRS - The Commercial Section has elected two new co-chairs for the 2008 year.  MICHELE RILEY riley@yahoo.com and WILLIAM MILLER adrwill@comcast.net

NOTICE - Due to technical difficulties the recent October Teleseminar regarding gaining access and maintaining your name on government ADR lists was not successfully recorded.  Graciously, the presenter of that teleseminar, Angelia Tolbert, has agreed to re-present the session early in 2005. This time, we are assured, it will be recorded with the cd available approximately 2 weeks after the presentation. Check the Commercial Section webpages for a notice of the date and time of this rebroadcast.

WEBSITES - During the October Teleseminar, several relevant websites were provided regarding registration as an ADR provider for usage on government lists. Those sites are as follows:

www.usajobs.opm.gov Office of Personnel Management

www.usdoj.gov/adr Federal Interagency ADR Working Group

www.dnd.com Data Universal Numbering System(DUNS)

www.ccr.gov Central Contractor Registration(CCR)

SECTION MEETING - At the annual Section meeting held in Sacramento, there was much discussion regarding the issue of Advanced Practitioner Status as it relates to our Section.  It was decided that the best course is to form a study group who will devise forums, such as teleseminars, message boards, etc. so our members can fully hear all considerations on this issue and input their opinions prior to making a decision for the Section.

NEW CO-CHAIR - Please welcome Jerome Allan Landau as co-chair of the Commercial Section for a two-year term.  He will assume his duties at the Annual Conference.  Jerome has practiced law for 35 years: 19 in New York City and 17 in Arizona with major emphasis in commercial, business and real estate transactions.  A passionate supporter of non-litigated conflict resolution, Jerome is the former Director of the Arizona Dispute Resolution Association.  He is a certified U.S. District Court Arbitrator and a commercial panel member of AAA.  He presents interactive training workshops for conflict resolution and has twice been invited to present workshops at the United Nations.  He may be contacted at Harmony@doitnow.com
