Welcome to the Arizona Association for Conflict Resolution, a professional organization dedicated to promoting the practice and public understanding of conflict resolution in Arizona.
The Arizona Association for Conflict Resolution is a group of mediators, arbitrators, collaborative law practioners, educators, and other conflict resolution professionals. We are a multidisciplinary organization whose members participate in dispute resolution in the a large range of areas such as divorce and family disputes, workplace conflicts, commercial disputes, community conflicts, civil rights matters, and teaching conflict resolution in the schools. The organization works to promote the professionalism of dispute resolvers, to sponsor research leading to the development of innovative dispute resolution techniques and procedures, and to serve as a clearinghouse of information in the field of dispute resolution in Arizona.
Since 1976, mediation and arbitration have been gaining popularity in the United States as the trend to explore new means to resolve legal disputes has increased. Growing frustration with the justice system due to long waits for trials and the high cost of litigation has led to the development and popularity of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) movement. ADR includes a group of processes to resolve disputes that include mediation, arbitration, med-arb, collaborative law, neutral fact-finding, and ombuds.
