 Thomas Davenport, Jr. was an early supporter of mediation.  He was a member of the initial Supreme Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission in the mid-90's.  He helped develop Supreme Court Rule 31 and became one of the early mediators in East Tennessee.  He was on the  initial Panel of Mediators for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and on the first list of  Rule 31 Supreme Court Listed Mediators. In addition to serving as a charter member of the ADR Commission he served as Chair of the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility.  

He will focus his mediation skills on the areas in which he has vast experience -- issues related to corporations, including contracts, governmental and regulatory affairs, environmental, construction and building matters, and labor and employment issues.

Mr. Davenport's law office  is currently in Bristol, Tennessee and he is licensed to practice in Tennessee and Virginia.       In addition to his mediation practice and a few other business clients,  he primarily functions in an outsourced general counsel role to the following clients:

Electro- Mechanical Corporation, Bristol, VA - a privately held manufacturer of power distribution equipment for mining, utility, and industrial applications; The Robinette Company, Bristol, TN - a packaging print roll manufacturer; Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (formerly Bristol Tennessee Electric System) - a municipal distributor of electric, cable, internet, and telephone services; Nash & Powers Insurance Services, Inc., Bristol, TN - a commercial insurance agency; Baker’s Construction Services, Inc, Bluff City, TN - a contractor engaged in grading, excavation, road building, and disaster recovery activities. He has also served in a similar capacity to Bristol Motor Speedway. He has been actively involved in business matters including mediations on behalf of these clients in jurisdictions across the U.S. and in Mexico and the Caribbean basin.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Business with High Honors and a J.D. with Honors in 1975. He received his mediation training in Florida in 1995.

He is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel state bar associations in Tennessee and Virginia, and a former member of the both the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the National District Attorneys Association.

His civic and community activities include the Bristol Trainstation Foundation, Massengill-DeFriece Foundation of Bristol, Maurine Hawkins Scholarship Foundation of Bristol, Director of the Bristol Tennessee/Virginia Rotary Club, Bio -Medical Ethics Committee of the Bristol Regional Medical Center, the Bristol/Sullivan County Foster Care Review Board, Girls, Inc. of Bristol, Johnson City Regional Educational, Entertainment and Arts District as well as other municipal committees for the City of Bristol.

He is married to Rebecca Helton Davenport, Assistant District Attorney, Second Judicial District.
