What is mediation?

Mediation is a process by which people in conflict seek mutually acceptable solutions through the help of a trained professional mediator.  Mediation is an informal way for people to come together and work toward a solution to their problem.  All solutions are made by the parties involved -- NOT THE MEDIATOR.

It is private and confidential.
Mediators and all parties keep confidential any information pertaining to the case.  Why have any professional or personal facts made in a public forum regardless if they are true or not where it is permissible, when YOU can have damage control?  Something alledgedly said in a courtroom can become devastating by the time it makes a vicious round with your hearing it last.  We all remember the game where something is said and passed around individually to each person in the room and being amused at the dramatic difference in what the last person finally was told.  NOT the case in mediation, as communication is open with NO secrets or games. 

It is faster and usually a fraction of litigation costs and has a relevant focus on resolving YOUR case or conflicts.
The average mediation usually lasts two to three hours; however, the length of time and number of sessions may vary because of the complexity of the conflict and case. All attention is on YOU, not perhaps a lengthy list of other cases where the judge has to allocate time that may or may not allow the opportunity for YOU to be heard.

The parties, rather than a judge or jury, control the outcome.
Sessions are held in a private, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere where the parties determine the end results instead of a judge and/or empowering twelve people not known to decide the outcome in a particular case.  Where else would you want a stranger to control a major life decision or someone who does not want to be on the jury in teh first place given the ability to resolve your conflict?

It is less "stressful" on many levels.
Although approved by the courts, no courtrooms!  Majority of mediations are held in our local office that provides a cozy, conducive, and relaxing atmosphere enabling one to focus on resolution rather than anxiousness of a sterile courtroom.  Conveniently located with ample parking "Between the Rivers" in Historic Downtown Rome, Georgia, avoiding public disclosure of problems handled inside our doors with understanding, friendly, and highly-trained professional mediators. "Don't Litigate, Mediate"--and take advantage of doing so locally with mediators equal or actrually more qualified than out of town larger firms that involve traffic, uncertainty of arrival time, and parking!

Help us assist you and the other party determine if intervention of the courts will be necessary.  Even if it does, you are still successful because most court cases require mandatory participation in mediation and you do not have to repeat the process and can go directly to have your day in court.  The difference will be that you can show at least you have attempted and even perhaps some of the conflict or issues have been resolved making it easier for everyone involved..."if you can't make $1 a day, make 50 cents."
