Robert F. Saint-Aubin
As a lawyer, my career has encompassed two phases, first, as in-house counsel in Philadelphia for FMC Corporation, a Fortune 50 industrial company engaged in textiles, industrial chemicals, machinery, mining, construction equipment, defense equipment and agricultural chemicals and equipment; and second, as a firm lawyer in Reno, Nevada. I am an eclectic problem-solver and deal-maker. I am a technologist and attorney with over 35 years of varied experience solving client problems. A graduate of MIT's Sloan School of Management, I received my law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In the third phase I am now focusing my activities on ADR.
During my career as a lawyer I have solved problems concerning business, labor, wealth creation, management and preservation; corporate formation, maintenance, IPOs, private placements, bonds and securities, integrity, governance and responsibility; trusts, estates, and marital disputes; law firm management and compensation; industrial, government, finance, entertainment, joint venture, natural resources, mining, UCC, and real estate contracts; real estate, rights of way, easements and mining title and mechanic’s liens; accountant’s liability; catastrophe management, natural resources and environmental law; tribal law; regulatory law; equal employment opportunity, race, sex, age and handicapped discrimination law; occupational safety and health, toxic torts, residential and industrial construction defects; homeowners’ association management, liability and developer relations; and personal injury and products liability, served as counsel to and on the boards of non-profits in the arts and education and functioned as a corporate ombudsman. Many of my matters have had multi-millions of dollars at issue.
As a neutral I have been involved in over 300 matters. I am a conciliator, an advocate and a project manager. I serve as an Attorney Settlment Officer for the US District Court, Central District of California, as arbitrator in the Nevada Court Annexed Arbitration Program, as a mediator and as public securities arbitrator for FINRA (formerly NASD and the NYSE,) as a mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Courts and as a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge. I served as pro bono general counsel for the National Judicial College. I served on the boards and as officer and counsel for the Nevada Opera and the Reno Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. I am Co-Chair of the California Bar ADR Committee of the Litigation Section.
I am admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court (1976); Pennsylvania State (inactive) and Federal Courts; Nevada State and Federal Courts (September 1985); and California State and Federal Courts (June 2003).
