About John McElwee
John L. McElwee is an attorney-mediator who has practiced law in Cincinnati, Ohio, for 27 years. His main areas of practice are business law, family law, probate, wills and trusts, and real estate. John received his law degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1977. He completed the forty-hour basic mediation course with the Aring Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1991, and is a court-approved mediator for Hamilton, Warren, and Clinton Counties. John is a founding member of Collaborative Family Lawyers of Cincinnati, Ohio, and has been practicing collaborative family law since 1997. He is past chair of the Cincinnati group. He also is a member of the Southern Ohio Collaborative Law Association (SOCLA) for Warren and Clinton Counties and The Collaborative Family Law Association of Butler County. John also is founder of The Northeast Lawyers Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, and its past president. He is a member of the Ohio, Cincinnati, Butler County, and Clermont County Bar Associations, and a former member of the Cincinnati Bar Association Board of Trustees. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. John is a divorce mediation and Collaborative Law trainer and a frequent presenter to bar associations on mediation and collaborative law topics.
