A Municipal Court Judge in East Orange & Irvington, New Jersey since 2000 (now retired)  and an attorney in practice for over twenty-four [24] years. She is the first African-American woman listed in the "Top 20 Verdicts and Settlements" of the New Jersey Law Journal, by obtaining a $3.25 million settlement in Grant v. Laresca, et al. It was a case which afforded her the opportunity to make new law, as she also did in Simmons-Dixon v. Ford Motor Corporation, in which she obtained a reversal of an administrative law judge's decision relating to automobile "Lemon Law", as well as, several others. A sole practitioner in East Orange, New Jersey, Judge Karimu F. Hill-Harvey is admitted to the New Jersey Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of N. J., the U.S. Court of Appeals 3rd Circuit Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. She completed the LL.M Trial Advocacy Program at Temple University in 2000; graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1983, and entered law school after graduating from Seton Hall in 1979 as a Dean's List student with a degree in communications.

For more than fifteen years she was employed as Senior Associate Counsel for the Housing Authority of the City of Newark. She is an arbitrator for the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Security Dealers aka FINRA and the American Arbitration Association.

Specialties:The areas in which she specialize include Probate, Personal injury, Real Estate, Contracts, Employment Discrimination and Workers’ Compensation. Memberships include the Supreme Court of New Jersey Committee on Women in the Courts; Supreme Court Committee on Special Civil Part Practice; Garden State Bar; New Jersey State Bar; Essex Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns and Office of Attorney Ethics Fee Arbitration.
