Public Presentation Group (PPG)

Dear ACR Member,

This year our Georgia Chapter is launching an exciting new initiative to spread the word about the benefits of alternative dispute resolution throughout our State.  As part of our Conflict Resolution Awareness Committee, we have formed the Public Presentation Group (PPG).  Each member of our Georgia Chapter will have the opportunity to become part of this effort by volunteering to ask community organizations near you to allow us to make a presentation on the benefits of ADR.  You will then have the opportunity to make the presentation.  While our purpose is to make the public more aware of forms of conflict resolution and what ACR does, speaking in public will provide a valuable opportunity for you to be recognized in your community as a conflict resolution professional.

Here’s how it will work—just fill out the enclosed application and return it to the PPG.   We will evaluate your application quickly and let you know whether we can approve you as an ACR speaker.  The main criteria in choosing speakers are a strong desire to participate in this program and at least minimal experience in public speaking.  Then you can go to work contacting civic groups, religious organizations and community institutions in your area.  Nearly all of these groups have regular programs and are constantly on the lookout for good speakers with interesting topics.  We will furnish you with a broad outline of topics to cover, but you can tailor your presentation to fit your own style and the needs of the audience.  All we ask is that you use the opportunity to promote the benefits of ADR in general, not your particular practice, and that you briefly explain what ACR is and how it is benefiting the citizens of Georgia.

Once you have completed your engagement, we ask that you complete and return an evaluation form—a copy is attached.

That’s all there is to it.  You are limited only by your own creativity and desire to explain the benefits of different forms of conflict resolution.

Please take a few moments to fill out the application form—and start talking!

Sincerely,

Boyd Lyons

Chairman, PPG

PS- You may return your application by e-mail to ppg@acrga.net or send it by U.S. Mail to Boyd Lyons, 645 Patrick Pl., Atlanta, GA 30328.
