Family and Divorce Mediation Training Scholarships Available

The Rudy and Denise van Daalen Wetters Mediation Training Scholarship Fund supports the efforts of people from diverse backgrounds who want to obtain family and divorce mediation training in order to provide conflict resolution services to under-served segments of our society.

Rudy and Denise van Daalen Wetters are both gratified to have resolved their marital separation through the mediation process and expressed their satisfaction through a contribution to the Family Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR). This scholarship fund is being offered due to their trust and belief in the mediation process which provided a life-changing transforming experience for both of them as they ended their marriage with dignity and compassion.

Those wishing to apply for a scholarship should:
  • demonstrate their high motivation and commitment to offering mediation services to people currently under-served in our society (e.g., economically disadvantaged, and/or culturally and racially diverse communities);
  • be from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds in order to encourage a diversity of mediators in the field;
  • have previously demonstrated actions and experiences that are consistent with peacekeeping and providing services to under-served segments of our society; and
  • not have previously completed any training programs in mediation.

The scholarship recipients may use the grant for any ACR-approved, 40-hour family and divorce training program. The ACR Family Section Training and Diversity Committees will select scholarship winners and make all decisions regarding the amounts and timing of the grants.

To apply, you may e-mail or mail a one-page description of your background, goals, and desired training (including the cost of such training) to Frank Motz at fmotz@neo.rr.com
